Sustainability

Keswick achieves a high standard of sustainability. With an ENERGY STAR® score of 90 and numerous “green” initiatives in place, the pursuit of an eco-friendly working environment is one of the highest priorities.

A few of the numerous operational efficiencies include:

  • The installation of water-efficient fixtures
  • Composting and cleaning products meeting Green Seal standards
  • Lower energy consumption measures
  • Electric vehicle chargers
  • LED lighting in common areas
  • Bottle filling station
  • Local/native landscaping in the Courtyard

Green Events at Keswick:

The Keswick campus supports Johns Hopkins University’s Climate Action & Sustainability Plan goal to commit JHU on a pathway to zero waste by offering green event support services. When planning an event, consider choosing a Preferred Green Caterer to supply only compostable service ware for your guests at no extra cost.

Classrooms A & B each have compost, recycle, and trash bins for 25 people. If your group is larger or when reserving the Café, request additional compost and recycle bins from Transwestern.

Visit the Office of Climate & Sustainability for more tips on how to plan a green event, including signage to educate your guests on proper waste sorting.
