Work at Brody Learning Commons Plaza
Beginning mid-November, the MSE Library Modernization project will be conducting work in the BLC plaza area to support the installation of a new service elevator. This work requires the temporary removal and salvage of the existing marble bench and pavers, as well as opening and repairing a portion of the Level Q slab below.
What to Expect:
- A fenced work zone will be installed in the BLC plaza area to safely separate construction activity from pedestrian traffic.
- The marble bench and surrounding pavers will be carefully removed and stored for reuse.
- An enclosure will be built over the work area while the slab is opened and restored.
Campus Impacts and Mitigation:
- Noise and vibration: Some noise is expected when the bench is removed and during concrete demolition.
- Path impacted: Spotters will be at the BLC plaza directing pedestrians during material movement. Pedestrian access from the breezeway to the stairs will remain open.
- Spotters will be on-site to safely guide pedestrians through the BLC plaza.
