Bloomberg steam pipe replacement

As part of the ongoing Bloomberg Steam Pipe Replacement project, we are replacing failing steam pipes that service the Bloomberg Building via the North Plant. The new steam line will be fed from the Athletic Center/Rec Center, ensuring long-term reliability and service continuity. This is a critical infrastructure upgrade that supports the university’s energy and utility systems.

Crane Activity Schedule
To support this work, a crane will be staged behind the Newton White Athletic Center to deliver materials to the Rec Center roof.

  • Dates: Monday, July 7 – Wednesday, July 9
  • Crane Setup Time: 6 p.m. daily
  • Crane Operation (Hoisting Materials): 10:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
  • Location: North side of the Newton White Athletic Center

Impact to Campus Operations

  • The Rec Center must remain vacant from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. on all three nights.
  • Parking spaces near the North Plant must be vacated daily from 6 p.m. to 4 a.m. to accommodate the delivery truck.
  • Pedestrian traffic will be safely diverted around the work zone. Signage and barriers will be in place according to the approved logistics plan.

Safety & Accessibility
All work will follow standard university safety protocols. Barriers, signage, and personnel will be on-site to guide pedestrian and vehicular traffic as needed.
