Construction begins on the AMR I & Hopkins Dining Project
Construction is now underway on the AMR I & Hopkins Dining Replacement Project, marking the beginning of a transformative investment that will strengthen campus life and the residential experience. Early site mobilization began in May 2026, with construction fencing now in place and pre-demolition activities underway. Demolition of the existing AMR I is anticipated to begin in mid-July.
Located along the Charles Street corridor, the project will transform this key campus gateway by replacing the existing Alumni Memorial Residence I with a modern residential hall and a new dining facility designed to serve the entire university community.
Please note that during construction, a temporary pedestrian pathway between AMR I and AMR II will be open. The southbound traffic lane and bike lane on N. Charles Street will remain open throughout construction.
*Please be advised, out of an abundance of caution, the pedestrian walkway on campus between AMR I and AMR II will be closed during the week of July 13.
The new residence hall is anticipated to be completed in summer 2028, with the new dining facility expected to open in early 2029.
