Accessing the Wayfinding App

The Wayfinding app can be accessed in two ways:

  1. Web Interface: Navigate the Homewood campus directly from your desktop, tablet, or mobile phone.
  2. Mobile App: For on-the-go navigation, download the app for iOS or Android. See the download instructions below.

Instructions for iOS and Android Downloads:

  • Download the ArcGIS Indoors app from the App Store
  • On the first screen, select “Continue as a Visitor”
  • Accept the disclaimer
  • When prompted to specify a portal, type in the URL “https://map.jhu.edu/portal”
  • Click “Continue as a Visitor”
  • Allow location permission
  • Select “Homewood Campus Indoors Mobile” to download

  • Walking (pathways may have travel hazards)
    • Extreme excessive cross-slope (over 4.5%) and/or running slope (over 8.3%) for exterior sidewalks and pathways, unstable surface material, or other irregularities in a portion of the path and/or stairway.
  • Partially Accessible Pathway
    • There are no stairs. The running slope is between 5% and 8%, and the cross-slope is between 2% and 4.5% along the travel path.
  • Fully Accessible Pathway
    • There are no stairs. The running slope does not exceed 5%, and the cross-slope does not exceed 2% along the travel path.

  • On the web interface, if your preferred travel mode is not available, you will receive the following message:

“We’re sorry. A route between these locations could not be found based on the selected mode. Please try selecting a different travel mode or route.”

  • Within the mobile app, the travel mode will be grayed out.

The web interface and mobile app use the same source data for the map and routes and allow you to get to the same locations. The mobile app is able to access more of your phone’s built-in features for a richer experience. Please refer to the table below for a detailed breakdown:
